How to control your Trane AC

Programming a Trane thermostat is straightforward via the control pad on the thermostat’s front. With just a click of a button, you will be able to control your Trane AC manually. With Trane thermostats, you can control your AC and have various temperatures throughout the day. You won’t have to fiddle with the control; you need to program the thermostat and let it take it from there. You can get the best out of your Trane AC by learning how to adjust and program the thermostat properly. You will have peace of mind knowing that you will feel comfortable without emptying your wallet on the energy bill.

Manual control

Even if manually controlling your thermostat isn’t very complicated, you need to follow specific steps to get the best results.

Select the system mode

Start with pressing and holding the “System Mode” button. It will let you select between Heating, Cooling, and Auto. When you choose Auto, the thermostat will run the unit as necessary to reach the input temperature.

Adjust the temperature setting

It would help to push the up and down buttons to set the input temperature setting. This way, you will be able to select the temperature to the setting you want. Once you’re done, the AC will run once the input temperature is higher than the set temperature.

Manual temperature override

If you want to override the manual temperature, you can press the Hold button on the thermostat. You will be able to override any programmed settings and manually choose the preferred temperature.

Extra tip

If you didn’t program a cooling schedule into the AC, you wouldn’t have to try a manual override. Nevertheless, you will save time, energy, and money if you set up a programmed schedule for your Trane AC.

Programmed control

Set up the schedule

Hit the “Set Clock/Day/Schedule button on your Trane thermostat. Use the up and down keys to toggle until you get to the set schedule option. You can now program the various modes on the thermostat. You will need to set up both the Weekday Schedule and the Weekend Schedule.

You can program the wake-up time and temperature. Use the up and down arrow button to modify the Wake-up time on the weekday setting. Once you pick a time, hit Next to get to the temperature for the wake-up time. Continue using the up and down arrow buttons to modify the Wake-up temperature.

Make additional settings

After setting the preferred wake time and temperature, continue by pressing the Next button. You can, for instance, set the temperature and time set for when you’re not home (Leave setting). This way, you will have a specific temperature when you leave the house. Similarly, it’s possible to set Return and Sleep Settings. Once you have set up any modes, you can hit Next. You can take the same steps to set up the Weekend Schedule. Once you have selected the temperatures for every mode, continue pressing the Done button to exit the programming.
