How to Lock the Trane Touchscreen Thermostat

Trane touchscreen thermostats come with many features, with locking and unlocking features as some of the main to name. The locking features on the Trane touchscreen thermostats will protect the devices from other people.

If this is the first time you use a Trane touchscreen thermostat, until you learn how to unlock it, you need to learn how to lock it. Either way, you need to know how to get the best out of your Trane touchscreen thermostat.

How to lock the Trane touchscreen thermostat

Your thermostat should be in the cool or heating mode to lock the thermostat. Check out the touchscreen and look for the locked padlock picture on display. It’s towards the bottom left corner. Set the slide switch to the “run” position.

Here are the following steps to take:

  • Begin with pressing “Menu”
  • Press and hold the “Next” button for 5 seconds.
  • First, you see “Lock Code” and then “Set Code”- it will appear on the top of the screen.
  • Continue with pressing OK. The thermostat will require a four-digit code that you want to set when unlocking the thermostat.

Many people use the default “0000” to lock the thermostat, and you can set the code you want. Use the Up, Down, and Next buttons to enter the number you want. We recommend you write down the entered code on a piece of paper to have it saved for later.

  • Activate the lock by pressing OK. Once the touchscreen is locked, the device will go back to the regular run screen.

How to unlock the touchscreen

Now that you know to lock the touchscreen of your thermostat, you also need to learn how to unlock it:

  • Click on the “locked padlock” icon on the display panel
  • The display will ask you if you wish to unlock and you need to press OK.
  • Enter the unlock code that you initially used to lock the touchscreen. Use the Up, Down, and Next buttons to modify the digit one by one.
  • Press OK after you enter the digit code to unlock the Trane thermostat.
  • Once you unlock the touchscreen, it will return to the typical run screen with no padlock icon.

Note

When you see a “Wrong Code” displayed on the touchscreen, you need to verify the unlock code to see if it’s the right one or not. If it’s the wrong code, you can correct it on the touchscreen. Press the OK button as you try to unlock the screen.
