How to Check Trane Warranty

What Does the Trane Warranty Cover

Trane is one of the most reputed manufacturers using revolutionary technology for cooling and heating systems. Trane HVAC products stand out with cutting-edge and environmentally friendly technologies. These products last for many years under heavy-duty use and come with warranty plans that protect against HVAC breakdowns from manufacturing defects.

What does Trane Warranty Cover

Regardless of the Trane appliance you’re using (air conditioning system, heat pump, any other heating or cooling system), the warranty coverage will save you from the significant HVAC repair costs. If you’re navigating the market for a new air conditioner or other heating or cooling appliance, stick with a Trane product. Trane provides you with excellent warranty coverage. Details come next.

Even if Trane protects heating and cooling products, not all parts are covered with the warranty. Check out the Trane warranty manual for a detailed breakdown of the information.

Air conditioner

The Trane Home Warranty covers some parts of the air conditioner:

  • Compressor
  • Air handler
  • Outdoor coil
  • Internal functional parts

If you go with the Registered Limited Warranty, you get a 10-year coverage for outdoor coil and internal functional parts. The Base Limited Warranty, on the other hand, covers the components for just five years.

Coils

Trane gives you coverage for internal functioning parts of the coil. With a Registered Limited Warranty period, coverage for coils is valid for a decade (10 years). According to the model, if you choose a Base Limited Warranty, the coverage period for coils varies between three and five years.

Furnace

A Trane Home Warranty will cover your Trane furnace’s heat exchanger and internal functional parts.

Refrigerant

The Trane warranty only covers spending related to replacing R-410 compatible product parts. If you have an R-22 refrigerant, you should know that the Trane’s limited warranty no longer covers it.

All-in-One Systems

Your all-in-one system comes with a warranty covering the compressor, heat exchanger, the coil, and the internal functional parts.

Note

Please be aware that Trane Home Warranty has some standard limits to what the warranty doesn’t cover under a limited warranty:

  • Shipping spending for replacement products
  • Labor costs such as fees for diagnosis, repair, and installation. Spending on the disposal of products isn’t covered.
  • Damage from disasters such as flooding, fire, storms, lightning, or earthquakes
  • Damage from a third-party product you used with a Trane product.

What does each Trane warranty cover?

There are several warranties you can opt for with your Trane unit.

Trane Base Limited Warranty

You can benefit from a Base Limited Warranty for every Trane product (heat pump, air conditioner, and furnace). The Base Limited Warranty terms cover the broken HVAC components during the manufacturing process.

We remind you that the Base Limited Warranty terms don’t cover the labor spending for repair or replacement. Therefore, if you need to benefit from the Base Limited Warranty, you will need to spend on the labor cost. You will not have to pay for replacement parts.

Trane’s Base Limited Warranty duration is different between products. Some Trane products come with a 5-years base limited warranty, whereas others will come with ten or even 20 years. We recommend checking out the Trane’s base limited warranty duration before purchasing the Trane air conditioner or heat exchanger.

Trane Registered Limited Warranty

Trane’s Registered Limited Warranty will cover various Trane products: heat exchangers, air handlers, heat pumps, air cleaners, and HVAC products. If you want to benefit from a Trane Registered limited warranty, you will need to become the matter into your own hands. Your local Trane dealer can guide you during this process, though.

You can register for this warranty by phone or online. Either way, your local Trane dealer can assist you. To benefit from the Registered Limited Warranty, you need your Trane product’s model number and serial number. Check out the invoice of the Trane dealer to find this information. You will also need to give your phone number, address, HVAC installation date, and name of your Trane dealer in the limited warranty registered information box.

Registered Limited Warranty Period

You only have 60 days to use this warranty. You will benefit from free-of-cost services and repairs during the registered limited warranty period. During the 60 days, though, you won’t be able to make any warranty transfer. Once the registered limited warranty period is over, you will benefit from the Trane Base Limited warranty. You will also be able to make the warranty transfer.

Optional extended warranty

If you’re interested, you can buy an Optional Extended Warranty. It covers both parts and labor for 5, 10, or 12 years. If you sell your house, you can make a limited warranty transfer to the new homeowner.

What Trane Warranty doesn’t include

The Trane warranty consists of a warranty for parts of the heating and cooling system. Should you buy the optional extended warranty, the warranty will also cover the labor spending for the warrantied work done. Otherwise, it will not cover the labor cost. The warranty doesn’t cover replacements or repairs that don’t relate to the manufacturer’s defects.
