Goodman Manufacturing is a U.S. company making air conditioning and heating equipment for commercial and residential use. Goodman furnaces for residential use come with several features that provide safe service, and the primary limit switch is one to name. It will stop the furnace from heating to dangerous temperatures, and it’s made to reset automatically after a problem. When the burner flames aren’t correctly collected into the heat exchanger, the rollout limit switch is activated, and manual reset will be necessary. Resetting the rollout limit switch is rather effortless.

How to reset Goodman furnace?

Even though it’s not complicated, you should follow several steps for resetting the Goodman furnace.

How do you identify the motor reset button?

Here’s the best way to do it:

  • It would help if you began with turning the power off to the furnace at the circuit breaker. It’s effortless to spot the circuit breaker.
  • You have to get to the blower wheel and blower motor and lift the blower compartment cover.
  • Try to find a red/yellow button on the side of the blower motor.
  • Press the reset button if you notice it’s popped out

You only need to press and hold the red “RESET” button in the middle of the rollout limit switch element. Make sure to have the control for a couple of seconds before you release it.

You may press the reset button no less than three times before troubleshooting the furnace’s internal elements. Make sure you have 30 minutes or so between the various resets.

If your Goodman furnace still doesn’t light at the burner level, even though the gas supply is on and the correct ignition phase has begun, you should turn off the unit and allow it to cool down. Continue opening the access panel and checking the flue pipe system that goes to the burners and pilot light.

What’s the most reliable method to reset the limit switch on your Goodman furnace?

As long as you’re following the proper steps, you should be able to reset the limit switch on your own:

  • Identify the heating duct of the furnace.
  • You have to figure out the white limit switch’s location
  • Take a look at every arm to see the settings.
  • Find the setting placed between the two arms.
  • Adjust the temperature on the middle element to 105 to 115F degrees.

Remember that the limit switch’s location may differ from one model to another.  Still, typically it’s in the hot-air supply plenum, right above the combustion chamber or furnace’s heat exchanger.

What tells you that the limit switch isn’t right?

The most typical sign of a poorly functioning limit switch is the non-stop functioning of the furnace’s blower. The limit switch stops the fan from turning on until the warm air gets to the proper temperature, but it also shuts down if the air cools to a specific temperature.
