If you're looking to fix or replace your Heating or A/C system, we can connect you with a reliable and cost-effective professional in your area.

If you own a Goodman furnace and you experience some issues, identifying the problem before calling the professionals is a great place to begin at. Even if some differences between models exist, when it comes to Goodman furnace trouble codes, the models present similarities. Next time your unit gives you a headache, you should start with reading the Goodman furnace fault codes, since the solution could be right under your nose:

1 blink

When your unit reads one LED flash that doesn’t stop, your unit may not receive the signal from the thermostat, so it’s not going to run. Take a look at the thermostat to see if there are some poor connections or low settings, but only after turning the power off.

Side note

Should one LED flash blink on and off, your unit is locked out due to the impossibility to ignite after three attempts. It’s necessary to stop the power to your furnace for 20 seconds, which will reset your unit.  It would help if you also lowered the thermostat so that your unit doesn’t attempt to heat. Continue with resetting the thermostat to the first setting. It’s expected that the furnace resets automatically on its own after one hour of lockout, attempting to go back to regular operation.

2 blinks

Two LED flashing to warn that the draft blower isn’t working, but a short in the pressure switch circuit may also be the cause. You can address the issue by turning off the furnace power, fix the short, or even install another pressure switch.

3 blinks

When you observe three LED flashes on your Goodman furnace, an open pressure switch circuit or an induced draft blower functioning could cause the issue. It would help if you analyzed the unit’s pressure switch hose to identify any blocks or wrongfully connections. You may also solve the issue if you tighten the loose wiring or identify and solve blockages in the flue.

4 blinks

A furnace with the primary limit circuit open causes four LED flashes. Blocked filters or some loose wires could be the main culprit. You should investigate and clean the filters, take a look at the flue, and identify any blockages.

5 blinks

A Goodman furnace sensing a flame with no call for heat will signal it with five LED flashes. A burner flame that lingers or a gas valve that closes very slow could cause the issue.

7 blinks

Seven LED flashes will inform you about a poor flame sense microamp signal. Low gas pressure could make a flame lazy, or the flame sensor could be coated, which causes the flashing. It would help if you started by turning off the power and making the gas pressure adjustments how the information from the rating plate is stating.

8 blinks

The eight LED flashes will signify an igniter circuit issue because the igniter isn’t connected correctly or because the igniter is bad. Analyze the ground wiring and make any necessary adjustments. Also, remember to get and install a new igniter for better functioning.

9 blinks

When the high-stage pressure switch circuit doesn’t close throughout the draft blower functioning (induced by the high stage), you will notice the nine LED flashing. Blocked pressure switch hose or pinched, but loose wiring or blocked flue could be the leading cause.

10 blinks

If you notice flashing on the LED that doesn’t stop, your unit could have reversed 115 volts’ polarity. Begin with turning off the power, and fix the wiring polarity but only checking the wiring diagram from your furnace.
